'Selmunett' is a charming family run luxury bed and breakfast located on the edge of the village of Naxxar, which is more or less in the centre of the island. We have two en suite bedrooms and a lovely swimming pool and garden for the use of guests. The sea at St Paul's bay is a ten minute car drive. The capital of Valetta is 15 minutes away; the airport and golf course are 20 minutes away. If Golf is your fancy, we can lend you a set of clubs. We strongly recommend that you hire a car for your time in Malta, and this can be arranged through us. Other forms of transportation can also be used, such as bicycles, quad bikes and mopeds - The latter modes not recommended in high summer due to the heat.
Main Entrance and Accesss to rest of House.
• The main entrance is approached up one step through a glass door leading into a conservatory, which then leads through a Wooden Security door into the marble Hall. Access is then available to a WC, The Sitting Room with an open fire, The Kitchen with its small Terrace, The Dinning Room, The Living Room with Bathroom and 'Tal Avukat' Bedroom as well as the office and access to a wonderful Terrace overlooking the Orange grove and Lawn, all these mentioned areas are on the level.
Tal Kurunell Bedroom.
One proceeds as above mentioned, however when one arrives at the end of the corridor after The Living Room one must take 6 steps to a landing and access to the the Bedroom with en Suite Bathroom.
Garden.
Has a number of areas, access is quite difficult due to the fact that the Garden is terraced and there are a number of ups and down to get one to different areas which could be quite difficult for wheel chair users,
Swimming Pool.
Is accessable through the Garden up a few steps and through a security gate, however in the case wheel chair users one can gain access to the Swimming pool area by using the drive and gate next door.
• For visitors in wheelchairs or who cannot negotiate the steps, please call us as we can help you arrive into the house. Our entrance has previously been used by a wheelchair user with no difficulty.
• The decor in the hallway is neutral and very light and the house and public areas are on one floor. All guest rooms have lockable keys and you will be given a control to open the main gate to gain access to the drive in and a key to a side door which is located at the end of a well lit corridor that takes you through the garden.
• A ceiling light and an emergency light are at the top of the stairs and two wall lights along the landing, each room has an electric fan to be used when necessary and if you so wish the bedroom windows can be left open as they are protected by fly and mosquito screens.
• Breakfast is served on the Kitchen Terrace or The Big Terrace or in the Kitchen, it really depends on the weather and the amount of guests we have in house at the time.
Outdoor Facilities
• We have a pool which is operational year round, depending on the weather. Grounds and Gardens • Seating in the sheltered courtyard area. Difficult access without hand rails and not recommended for people with restricted movement as the garden is laid out on a set of terraces. Having said that it is a beautiful italianate style garden with unusual/rare plants. The garden is currently laid to lawn with a stoned path.
• Chairs can be moved on request. • Seat height of the dining chairs is 45cm. They have no arms.
Treatments
• We can arrange for a private aromatherapy/masseuse, hairdresser or beautician to visit Selmunett. This has to be arranged in advance. Please ask us for details when booking.
Additional Information
• Mobile phone reception is good in the house, as well as WiFi for those who travel with their Computers.
• Our fridge can be used for medication etc and our freezer for ice packs on request.
We have two bedrooms, "Tal Avukat" Bedroom with ensuite Bathroom (Bath), "Tal Kurunell" Bedroom with ensuite Bathroom (Shower).
The Bedrooms have en suite bathrooms and the first floor double room is not suitable for wheelchair users. Bedrooms are carpeted with soft pile Rugs each room has two windows making them very light, the bathroom floors are tiled however non slip mats can be provided for the bath and Shower respectively.
Each room has a tea tray with cordless kettle for tea/coffee making as well as easy chairs that are provided in the rooms which are very spacious and accessible.
Check in time is by arrangement. Please appreciate we are not a hotel and therefore if we are NOT meeting you at the Airport or Port arrangements MUST BE agreed in advance to be sure that we are here to receive you. Check Out by 10.30am (late check out only by special arrangement)
• We are situated in the area of Naxxar (in the centre of the island). If you have sat nav our post code is NXR 2216
• A secure gated tarmac drive is outside the house with parking on a level tarmac surface for ample cars. (You will be given a gate control in order to access the gate and when parking please take care that gate is closed once again as we have two dogs who are likely to walk out if the gate is open)
• On arrival you will be met and offered assistance with your luggage and a chance to have a welcome drink so that you can aquaint yourselves with your hosts.
