This tour starts at the Saluting Battery, Valletta – Guided tour is available at 11am & 12.15 am. Members of the public on the 11am tour will be allowed to stay in the Battery throughout the Noon-day firing proceedings. This will offer a unique opportunity for close up viewing of the gun drill & picture taking.
Free transport is provided from Valletta to visit The War time Museum , Birgu and Fort Rinella in Kalkara.
Daily Programme
11.00hrs – Saluting Battery hands-on guided tour
12.00hrs – Noon-day gun firing re-enactment
12.15hrs – Transport leaves Saluting Battery fro the Malta at War museum , Birgu
12.30hrs – Viewing of wartime documentary Malta GC
13.30hrs – Guided tour of underground air raid shelter at MAW Museum
13.30hrs – Departure to Fort Rinella ( Lunch break at Fort Rinella – lunch not included)
14.15hrs – Viewing of audiovisual film on the history of Fort Rinella and its 100- ton gun
14.45hrs – Military signalling and foot drill display
15.00hrs – Firing of field gun
15.30hrs – Bayonet and musketry display
16.00hrs – End of historical re – enactment & heritage trail. Transport back to Valletta.
